Nanabush and the Muskrat
Each language group has its own legends which have been handed down from generation to generation through oral tradition. A similarity exists among most legends, although the language may differ. Wisakecak of the Cree tricked the birds into dancing with their eyes closed while he killed them. So did Iktome of the Nakota ( Assiniboine) and Nanabush of the Saulteaux. Nanabush is depicted in a series; “Nanabush and the Ducks”, “Nanabush and the Muskrat”, “Nanabush and the Geese”, “Nanabush and the Bulrushes”.
